Ken is an orthopedic surgeon and Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine. He has clinical expertise in non-operative and operative treatment of sports-related and traumatic injuries. He is a team physician and takes care of recreational, elite, high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. Outside of covering sporting events and conducting team activities, he specializes in minimally invasive and reconstructive surgery of the upper and lower extremity.
Ken is a former collegiate athlete and has spent his whole life around sports. His own injuries inspired him to pursue a career in orthopedics and sports medicine. The most fulfilling part of his work is helping restore patients’ livelihoods and getting them back to doing what they love. He understands various challenges faced by athletes of different levels, and he understands that each athlete has taken a unique path to arrive at the current moment. His treatment philosophy is to provide the highest level of professional and personal care in a way that is impactful and specific to each individual’s needs, as positive change comes through thoughtful action and working
together.
Following undergraduate studies at MIT, Ken completed medical school at Washington University in St. Louis. He completed residency at the world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City, named #1 in Orthopedic Surgery by US News and World report for the last 15 years. Subsequently, he completed additional Sports Medicine fellowship training at Stanford University where he stayed on as faculty. Beyond clinical work, Ken has received grant funding and published dozens of articles and textbook chapters from research focused on cutting edge surgical techniques and biological/biomechanical aspects of injury, healing/regeneration, and rehabilitation.
